CHENEY, Wash. – A historic performance from Amaris Carter nearly carried the Seattle U Redhawks to victory in a five-set defeat to the Eastern Washington Eagles. The Redhawks fell 25-22, 18-25, 25-18, 11-5 in a back-and-forth match. Carter had 29 kills, the fourth-most in school history.
The Redhawks rode Carter's career day to some big runs, including a 7-0 run in set one and an 8-1 run in set three. The fifth set bounced back and forth until a 3-0 run by Eastern Washington stretched the lead just enough to take the set.
Carter surpassed her previous career high of 16 kills early in the third set, ending the day just short of the fourth 30-kill performance in Seattle U history. Carter's 29 kills are behind only Kaytlyn Dill (31 in 2012), Matea Mamic (30 in 2016), and Katarina Marinkovic (30 in 2016) in school history.
