ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Seattle U Redhawks picked up their second win in as many days, defeating Southeastern Louisiana 16-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-17. The Redhawks had 13 blocks in the match, a new season high and their second straight match with double-digit blocks.
 
Seattle U fell in set one but bounced back quickly: facing a 3-4 deficit in set two, Seattle U went on a 6-2 run. The Redhawks were facing a match point after a 6-1 SLU run. In that set, only for three straight points by Seattle U turning the tables and clinching the set.
 
The Redhawks rolled from there: they faced a 9-10 deficit in set three and never trailed again in the match. That included a 4-0 start to set four, Seattle U's longest scoring streak to start a match this year.
 
Katlyn Sipes had the first 20+ dig game of her career, recording 26. Sipes is the first freshman to record 20+ digs in a single match for the Redhawks since Tijana Milojevic did so in 2017.
 
Amaris Carter and Julia Queiroz each had 14 kills, a season high for both of them. That total matched Queiroz's career high, set in 2019, and was just two off of Carter's career high, also in 2019.
 
After two wins this weekend, the Redhawks will have two more road games next week. Seattle U will visit Cheney, Washington to take on CSU Bakersfield on Friday, September 17 at 12:00 pm and Eastern Washington on Saturday, September 18 at 1:00 pm.

  • Sipes has 40 digs in her last two matches.
  • Darian Goins has double-digit assists in seven consecutive matches.
  • Sierra Bartley has at least one block in five straight matches, including 11 in the last two.
  • Ezgi Ozkan's four blocks matched her career high.
