DENVER – Kait Raffensperger of Seattle University women's soccer has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Defensive Player of the Week, for the period ending on Sept. 5. The freshman was key in a pair of home shutouts for the Redhawks this past week.
Raffensperger, a centerback from Redmond, Wash., played a vital role in both SU wins at Championship Field. In the home opener on Thursday, Raffensperger helped keep Eastern Washington off the board across 90 minutes of action. Hallie Bergford scored in the 98th minute to lift the Redhawks to a 1-0 victory.
Raffensperger played the full 90 minutes on Sunday, working to prevent Portland from scoring in another 1-0 Redhawk win.
The freshman has started all six games this fall, as SU has started 4-1-1 with three shutouts.
Seattle U heads to Washington State on Thursday night for its next match.
