GREENSBORO, N.C. — The 2021 Seattle University Baseball team was one of 96 NCAA Division I collegiate programs awarded the Team Academic Excellence Award by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
At the time of the release, the Redhawks were the only Division I team to represent the State of Washington, and were joined by Tarleton and Utah Valley to make the list from the Western Athletic Conference. Seattle U baseball posted a 3.219 cumulative grade point average during the 2020-21 academic year.

Following the season, the Redhawks saw several names on the WAC All-Academic Awards, such as Kai Alberghini, Trevor Antonson, Peter Chronowski, Nestor German, Grant Heiser, Shane Jamison, Brady Liddle, Austin Lively, Alex McBee, Desmond Parisotto and Kohl Petersen.
"I'm so proud of out club and their dedication towards the classroom," said head baseball coach Donny Harrel. "Being the only team from Washington and one of three to represent the conference shows the true studetn athlete committement in our organization."
The ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award honors high school and collegiate programs that are coached by ABCA members and post a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the academic year. The annual award was first handed out following the 2015-16 academic year.
This was the Redhawks' second time being recognized in as many years.
