KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the fourth consecutive year under Head Coach Jim Hayford, Seattle University men's basketball has earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award.

These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2020-21 season.

The Redhawks compiled a 3.415 team GPA for the 2020-21 academic year, including closing out the final term with a stellar 3.480 team GPA.

Rip Economou, Riley Grigsby and Matt Vail were all been named to the NABC Honors Court, announced Tuesday, while Economou, Grigsby, Vas Pandža and Kobe Williamson all earned Western Athletic Conference All-Academic honors this past year.

Seattle U was one of two WAC programs to make the list along with Utah Valley.

In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all student-athletes who competed during the 2020-21 season.
