SEATTLE — A quality outing for Seattle U hurler Riley Sinclair fell by wayside as the Redhawks dropped their series finale on Sunday to California Baptist by the score of 9-1.
For the fourth time in the series, the Redhawks were on the short-end of a lopsided hitting margin as they were outhit by CBU, 11-3. Two of the Seattle U hits came in the second as Shane Jamison led off the inning with base hit before Andrew Haight pushed him across with a two-out RBI single.
The run was Jamison's first career tally in a Redhawk uniform; as he finished 1-for-3 at the plate; while Haight went 1-for-2 and notched his second career RBI.
Kyle Sherick filled out the balance for Seattle U in the hit column with a two-out base knock in the fourth. He then advanced 90 feet as he acquired his 13th stolen base, before becoming one of five Redhawks stranded on base.
On the mound, Sinclair (0-4) was charged with the loss after allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits with four strikeouts and four walks in six innings.
Despite the decision, the right-hander was solid as he held the Lancers scoreless for five innings and left six runners behind, including four in scoring position. Sinclair however struggled in the third as California Baptist overtook the Seattle U 1-0 advantage with a three-run inning. The freshman though bounced back allowing just one hit and one walk in this final three innings of work, which including a 1-2-3 inning in the fourth.
The Redhawk bullpen then tossed the final three innings as Brady Liddle (1.0 IP), Ethan Brown (1.0 IP), Desmond Parisotto (0.1 IP) and Mason Hoover (0.2 IP) each made relief appearances.
With Seattle U still trailing, 3-1, the Lancers blew open the game with a five-run seventh, before tacking one more in the eighth to provide the final margin.
