BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Seattle U men's golf wrapped up round one play at the 2021 Western Athletic Men's Golf Conference Championships on Friday, finishing in third place as a team. The Redhawks posted a team score of 7-under 281, while New Mexico State leads the group with a stroke total of 15-under.
Junior Nathan Cogswell led the way for Seattle U, finishing in a tie for third after shooting a 5-under 67. Cogswell is tied for second in par four scoring and tied for third in par three scoring.
Fellow junior Jack Rahon was the next best Redhawk as he shoot a 2-under 70, tying him with two other golfers at 11th, while senior Gabe Spach (71) finished just one stroke behind, putting him in a tie for 14th. Both Spach and Rahon made eagle on the 16th hole.
Behind Spach, was junior Federico Gutierrez (73) who started off strong on the front nine but was not able to hold that same level of play throughout the round. Rounding out the team score is sophomore Will Koepke who finished with a score of 76.
Round two of the WAC Championships starts on Saturday, May 1 at 8 a.m. with SU being one of the last teams to tee off at 9:20 a.m.
