LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Seattle U women's tennis season came to a close on Saturday as it fell, 4-0, to #1 seeded Grand Canyon in the semifinals of the Western Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament. In the shortened match, Grand Canyon came out strong from the first serve and continued with that momentum throughout the match.

The Lopes started off hot by claiming the doubles point. Seniors Michelle Bader and Hannah Gianan (1-6) faced off against Natasha Pueshse and Jana Wiess, while junior Jillian Rasmussen and senior Peggy Rooke (1-6) suffered the same fate against Emilia Occhipinti and Autum Prudhomme.

In singles play, junior Hannah Grossman (2-6, 0-6) matched up against Joely Lomas, while fellow junior Alisa Sabotic (1-6, 4-6) did all she could in the second set against Weiss and Gianan (2-6, 3-6) battled against Puehse. The match concluded after the three Lopes victories as they had clinched the match deciding point.

"Over the last few months we have all learned a lot about ourselves," said Head Coach Kristina Hollander. "We have also learned a lot about the game and what it takes for us to win matches. I see a lot of potential in this program and I am excited to get back to work in the fall."
