ORANGE, Calif. – Seattle University women's soccer won its second straight Western Athletic Conference (WAC) regular-season title with a 1-0 overtime win at California Baptist Friday afternoon. Gabe Jillings scored in the 93rd minute to lift SU to its sixth WAC regular-season crown since 2013.

Seattle U (11-4-2, 10-2-2 WAC) has secured at least a share of the WAC title. Utah Valley hosts Dixie State on Saturday. If the Wolverines win, SU will share the regular-season championship with UVU. In that scenario, the Redhawks would be the second seed in next week's WAC Tournament. With any other result, SU will be sole champions and take the top seed in the postseason. Seattle U has clinched a first-round bye in the WAC Tournament. It will play on Thursday, Apr. 15, in the semifinals.

The match was physical from the start, with the tension building throughout the day. The first half saw 16 fouls and three yellow cards, but neither side found the back of the net.

CBU got the better of much of the second half, but Madison Waguespack and the Redhawk backline stood tall to keep the Lancers off the board. Near the end of the half, SU made a push, but the match headed to overtime deadlocked at 0.

Jillings, making her first appearance since Feb. 27 due to injury, earned her spot in overtime with a strong effort in the second half Friday. The Redhawks claimed possession, with Sydney Carr moving the ball ahead to Bailey Hall on the left wing. She one-touched a chip pass forward to Jillings, who settled the ball and then scored with her right foot to push SU to another WAC title.

Coach Julie Woodward has now guided SU to six WAC regular-season crowns since 2013. The Redhawks will also go for a sixth WAC Tournament Championship next week in Phoenix.
