ST. GEORGE, Utah – Ava Benedetti scored in overtime to lift Seattle University women's soccer to a 2-1 win at Dixie State on Thursday night. The Redhawks moved their unbeaten streak to five games with the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) win.

After Emily Bunnell scored in the second half to tie the game, the teams headed to overtime. In the 95th minute, Lauren Brown passed ahead to Benedetti on the left side. The sophomore dribbled ahead and created space from her defender. Benedetti launched a line drive into the back of the net on the right side, bringing SU to victory.

The Redhawks outshot DSU, 18-15, and held a 6-4 corner kick advantage. Madison Waguespack finished with six saves in net.

The teams both created shots in the first half, threatening the defense as the half went on. Waguespack made a key stop in the early minutes, but DSU found a go-ahead goal in the 26th minute. The hosts held their margin through 45 minutes.

In the 74th minute, Kelsey Crosby was taken down in the box, setting up a penalty kick try. Bunnell stepped forward and lined a shot to the right of the goalkeeper to make it 1-1.

The teams will play again on Saturday at DSU. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 a.m. Pacific (11 a.m. Mountain).
