UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Seattle U men's golf finished up its final tournament before the 2021 Western Athletic Conference tournament by hosting the Redhawk Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash., where it finished 12th out of 15 teams. San Francisco claimed the team title with a stroke total of 14-under, while San Francisco's Soren Lind took home first place as an individual with a shot total of 5-under.
The best performer for Seattle U was junior Federico Gutierrez (71-71-79) who had strong performances in rounds one and two, finishing in a tie for 38th. Behind Gutierrez, was fellow junior Jack Rahon (76-76-75) who demonstrated consistency, while freshman Blake Kukula (77-73-80) put together his best performance in round two. Rounding out the participants for the team score were senior Gabe Spach (84-77-80) and junior Nathan Cogswell (69-72), who withdrew in round three due to injury.
Competing as an individual were redshirt freshman Conor Kelly, sophomore Will Koepke and seniors Ben Gruher and Quinton Borseth. Kelly (76-74-81) was the best performer out of this group as he started off strong in the first two rounds, while Koepke (79-75-79) finished just two strokes behind him. Gruher (77-79-82) and Borseth (85-83-84) shot three round scores of 238 and 252.
The Redhawks' next event will take them to Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada as finish out their season at the 2021 WAC Men's Golf Championships.
