OREM, Utah – Seattle University women's soccer fell at Utah Valley, 4-1, on Saturday. Sydney Carr scored her nation-leading 15th goal in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) contest at Clyde Field.
In the 16th minute, Natalie Dixon passed ahead to Leahi Manthei on the right side. She crossed a ball to the far side of the box, where Bailey Hall tried a shot that was stopped by the UVU goalkeeper. The rebound sprang free and Carr was right there to deposit the loose ball for a 1-0 lead.
Madison Waguespack made a stellar save a few minutes and Taylor Marks and Valentina Bernal teamed up to keep the ball from crossing the goal line on another UVU attempt, but the hosts went on to tie the match in the 29th minute. Utah Valley took a 2-1 lead in the 41st minute.
In the second half, the Wolverines got rolling, scoring twice more in the middle portion of the period to gain control.
Waguespack made five saves in net.
Seattle U returns home for its final weekend at Championship Field. It hosts NM State for two matches, with the first scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Thursday, April 1.
