Redhawks Fall in Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. - Seattle U men's tennis finished up its weekend trip to Oregon on Saturday when it traveled to Eugene for its matchup with Oregon at the Student Tennis Center. The 49th-ranked Ducks came out strong and never let up, winning in a 7-0 sweep on their home courts.

EUGENE, Ore. - Seattle U men's tennis finished up its weekend trip to Oregon on Saturday when it traveled to Eugene to matchup with Oregon at the Student Tennis Center. The 49th-ranked Ducks came out strong and never let up, winning in a 7-0 sweep on their home courts.

The 11-2 Ducks opened the day by claiming the doubles point. Seniors Lucas Cerbelli and Eli Ogilvy (4-6) had the best doubles performance on the day for Seattle U as they were close to beating 30th ranked Joshua Charlton and Quinn Candecasteele. Senior Emilio Monroy and junior Billy Givens-Jensen (2-6) teamed up against 70th ranked Emmanuel Coste and Jesper Klov-Nilsson while Freshman Mats Krause and Julian Worn (0-6) faced off against Brandon Lam and Luke Vandecasteele. 

Worn (3-6, 6-7 (4-7)) was the closest Redhawk to earning a victory as he battled against Quinn Vandecasteele. Ogilvy matched up against 30th ranked Charlton, falling 2-6, 2-6, while Krause and sophomore Lars Schmassmann suffered the same result against Luke Vandecasteele and Ryoma Matsushita respectively. Cerbelli (3-6, 2-6) battled against 70th ranked Coste while Monroy (0-6, 1-6) matched up against Klov-Nilsson.

The Redhawks' next match will be their last match before conference play as they travel to Flagstaff, Ariz., for a matchup with Northern Arizona at the NAU Tennis Center.
