SEATTLE – Seattle University women's soccer ran away with an 8-0 victory over Chicago State on Thursday night. Sydney Carr tallied a first-half hat trick for the second time in a week as SU rolled in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) match at Championship Field.

Carr tied the Division I program record with four goals and set a new D1 school record with 10 points on the night. She is the first player in the nation to total 10 points in a game this season. SU's eight goals are its most in a match since Oct. 26, 2014, when the Redhawks put up 11 goals against Chicago State.

In the 17th minute, Leahi Manthei found Carr with room in the middle of the park. She dribbled to create room and launched a left-footed liner to the top of the net from 25 yards out for a 1-0 lead.

Manthei sprinted downfield in the 24th minute and sent a through ball to Carr at the backdoor, where the junior deposited her second goal of the night to make it 2-0.

In the 26th minute, Kate Connelly started a rush near midfield and hit Carr on the right side. She moved ahead and saw Hall open on the far side for another goal.

Less than a minute after that, SU earned a free kick. Ava Benedetti rolled the ball to Natalie Dixon, who touched it back to Carr. Carr's strike from 25 yards was pure, hitting the crossbar and dropping in for Carr's second hat trick in a week's time.

Late in the half, Paige Malm moved down the offensive right and crossed a ball that curled back out to the top of the box. Valentina Bernal settled the pass and fired a shot that beat the Cougar keeper for a 4-0 lead in the 40th minute.

The barrage continued in the second half, as Manthei set up Carr's fourth goal of the match in the 63rd minute. Carr became the eighth player to score four goals in a WAC contest.

Mo Nagel finished a rebound in the 67th minute and then Malm's cross resulted in an own goal to make it 8-0.

The Redhawks held a 30-1 advantage in shots. Madison Waguespack made one save for her fifth shutout of the season.

The teams square off again on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Championship Field.
