SEATTLE – Seattle University's men's and women's basketball teams will head to Las Vegas this week for the 2021 Hercules Tires WAC Basketball Tournament. The Redhawk men have earned the fifth seed in the six-team bracket, while the women are seeded fifth among seven competing teams.

Women's play begins Wednesday, March 10 with three first-round games. Seattle U will head to Vegas as the fifth seed after wrapping up the regular season with an 11-13 overall record and 6-8 mark in WAC play. The Redhawks, who have four players averaging double figures, are led by 15.4 points per game from McKenzi Williams and will take on fourth-seed NM State in the first round on Wednesday at 1 p.m. The two teams split the two-game regular season series, contested on back-to-back nights in El Paso, Texas. A victory over the Aggies would move the Redhawks along to the 11 a.m. semifinal game Friday against the unbeaten regular season champions and top seed California Baptist.

Seattle U's men have earned the fifth seed and begin play on Thursday, March 11 with a 4:30 p.m. tip-off against fourth-seed California Baptist. The Redhawks boast the league's top two scorers in sophomore Darrion Trammell (20.6 ppg) and Riley Grigsby (18.3 ppg).  Seattle U and CBU split the season series in Riverside on March 5-6. The Redhawks won 80-79 Friday night, then nearly came back from a 15-point deficit 24 hours later, but fell 79-76 to the Lancers. A win for the Redhawk men would result in a semifinal match-up against top-seed Grand Canyon on Friday at 5 p.m.

There will be no public sale of tickets for the 2021 WAC Basketball Tournament. All women's games will be on ESPN+ and will be available for international viewers on the WAC Digital Network. For the men's tournament, Thursday and Friday's games can be seen on ESPN+ with Saturday's title game going over the air live on ESPNU.
