DENVER – Madison Waguespack of Seattle University women's soccer has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Defensive Player of the Week, for the period ending on Feb. 28. The sophomore recorded two shutouts as the Redhawks claimed a 3-0 week.
 
Waguespack, a native of Round Rock, Texas, made nine saves across two outings last week. At UTRGV on Feb. 22, she tallied four stops, including a penalty-kick save in the 86th minute to preserve SU's 1-0 win.
 
On Feb. 27 against California Baptist, Waguespack compiled five saves, including a terrific kick save in the opening minutes and a diving stop late in the second half to help the Redhawks knock off the Lancers, 1-0, at Championship Field.
 
In 2021, Waguespack has 21 saves in five contests. She sports a 0.77 goals against average in 470 minutes of action. SU has not allowed a goal in 319:57 of play, dating back to Feb. 20 at UTRGV.
 
Seattle U heads to Dixie State for two WAC matches this weekend.
