SEATTLE - While many collegiate athletes were forced to take long breaks from competitive play in the latter part of 2020, some members of Seattle U's women's golf team were fortunate enough to be able to participate in events near their hometowns.
Sophomore Megan Kelly, the only new member to the squad this year, competed in three tournaments in her home country of Germany. She put together one extremely strong performance at the North German Championships, finishing in first place with scores of 66-72 on the par 72 course.
Senior Kimberlee Tottori was able to participate in five tournaments, finishing in the top five in two. Those two performances were a part of the the US Am Tour in Nevada where she took home first place at Reflection Bay Golf Club and second place at Boulder City Golf Course.
Another senior, Keisha Lugito, took part in the 2020 SCGA Women's Amateur Qualifying at Wood Ranch Golf Club and the 2020 SCGA One-Day Series at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon. Lugito put together competitive performances with a score of 77 at the SCGA Women's Amateur Qualifying and score of 74 at SCGA One-Day Series.
Seniors Anne Transier and Krystal Hu both competed at the Puget Sound Amateur where they tied for second place. The first day was shorten to nine holes due to rain at the Classic Golf Club in Spanaway, Wash., where Hu shot a 39 and Transier shot a 37. The second day took place at Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash., where Hu shot a 71 and Transier shot a 73. Transier also went on to compete in the Twin Lakes Amateur at Twin Lakes Golf & Country Club, winning the women's division with scores of 75-73.
Seattle U's 2021 season officially gets underway March 1-2 as the Redhawks travel to Phoenix, Ariz., for the Grand Canyon University Invitational at the GCU Golf Course.
