PALM DESERT, Calif. – Seattle U men's golf finished up their week long trip to California at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, finishing 14th out of 20 teams. Georgia Tech won the team title with a stroke total of 16-under, while Colorado State's AJ Ott took home his second tournament victory of the week with a shot total of 11-under. The Redhawks posted a team score of 26-over 890, with their best team round of 290 coming on Sunday. The three day event took place at Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif., on the 7,322 yards course with a par of 72.
Junior Nathan Cogswell led the way for the Redhawks as he demonstrated great consistency once again and showed improvement with his third round score but tied for 39th at four-over 220 (74-74-72). Behind Cogswell, was junior Federico Gutierrez (77-73-73) who put up two solid scores in round two and three after a slow start to the event. Junior Jack Rahon (74-82-69) put together a really strong performance on the final day with a score of 3-under after struggling yesterday. Rounding out the participants from Seattle U are freshman Blake Kukula and senior Gabe Spach who finished with three-round totals of 229 (73-79-77) and 230 (78-76-76) respectively.
Seattle U looks forward to their next event in Bandon Dunes, Ore., at the Bandon Dunes Invitational hosted by Idaho which will take place from Mar. 7-9.
