ST. GEORGE, UTAH — On the third day of the Western Athletic Conference Women's Swim Championships, youth prevailed for Seattle U as the Redhawks had 10 individual swimmers advanced to the final, including eight underclassmen.
A trio of sophomores in Tessa Oliver, Isabella Guadiamos and Michaela Day appeared in the 400 individual medley. Oliver won the C-Final as she swam 4:34.76, trimming nearly four seconds from her prelim time. Guadiamos followed at 4:37.86, while Day touched in at 4:45.94.
Seniors Allison Plamondon and Sherlyn Devadason were the lone upperclassmen to represent Seattle U in the evening session as each swam the 100 butterfly. Devadason logged a time of 58.82, with Plamondon coming in at 1:00.54.
In the 200 free, freshman Emilia Culberson added to the Redhawk aggregate with a seventh-place finish in the B-Final as she registered a time fo 1:56.08. Freshman Maggie Robben meanwhile finished second in the final as she swam 1:55.26, while classmate Cassie Koester posted a time of 1:56.88.
Sophomore Danika Himes also contributed to the Seattle U cause as she swam 1:04.92 in the 100 breaststroke B-Final, to claim third.
In the 400 medley relay, the Redhawks capped the night with a combined time of 3:57.30. Allie Freeman opened with a time of 1:00.64 in the backstroke, while Himes (1:05.68) and Devadason (58.38) swam the breast and fly portion. Plamondon closed things out with a time of 52.60 in the freestyle.
After three complete days, the Redhawks go into the final day of competition ranked eighth in the standings with 117 points.
The conclusion of the WAC Championships will begin with prelims at 10 am PT, with finals again scheduled for 5 pm PT. As the previous two days, finals will be on ESPN+ and prelims on the WAC Digital Network.
