ST. GEORGE, Utah — After a quick first day of action at the Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Championships in St. George, Utah, Seattle University is eighth in the overall standings. 

The Redhawks opened the night with an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:47.52). Emilia Culberson swam 28.08 in backstroke portion, before Danika Himes posted a 29.53 split in the breaststroke. Sherlyn Devadason logged a 25.77 in the butterfly section, while freestyler Allison Plamondon swam 24.14. 

In the 800 freestyle relay, the Seattle U quartet touched in at a combined time of 7:47.38, placing eighth. Maggie Robben led off the event with a time of 1:56.01. Culberson logged a 1:56.55, while Cassie Koester swam 1:57.36. Alexa Hoeper closed out the race with split of 1:57.46.

In time trail competition, Tessa Oliver swam a career-best, 1:06.12, in the 100 breaststroke placing her sixth on the program's all-time performance list. Meanwhile Michaela Day touched in at 2:30.88 in the 200 breaststroke. 

Action resumes on Thursday with prelims scheduled for 10 am PT. Finals for that the second day are slate for 5 pm.
