SEATTLE -  After a weekend trip to Spokane, Seattle U men's tennis returned to Seattle on Monday to take on the Washington Huskies at the Lloyd Nordstrom Tennis Center. The Huskies came out strong and did not let up, winning in a 7-0 sweep on their home courts. This loss moves the Redhawks to an 0-2 start, while Washington improves to 3-2.

"It is always such a difficult matchup going up against UW," said Head Coach Kristina Hollander. "I thought our players showed great energy and competed better today. We are excited for our first home match of the season coming up this week."

In doubles play, freshmen Mats Krause and Julian Worn earned a hard-fought 6-3 win over UW's Kailuhia Lam and Nikit Reddy. But the Huskies would go on to claim the doubles point as seniors Eli Ogilvy and Lucas Cerbelli dropped a 6-3 decision against 65th-ranked Jack Davis and Alexi Alvarez, while junior Billy Givens-Jensen and senior Emilio Monroy lost 6-0 against Ewen Lumsden and Han-Chin Lin.

In singles play, Worn put together the best singles performance for the Redhawks in a 5-7, 5-7 final against Adam Torocsik. Krause put up two very competitive sets against Jack Pulliam, finishing 3-6, 4-6, while Cerbelli fell in identical sets of 3-6 to 65th-ranked Davis. Monroy (0-6, 2-6) faced off against Lin, while Ogilvy and sophomore Lars Schmassmann suffered identical results, 1-6, 2-6, to Clement Chidekh and Alvarez, respectively.

The Redhawks' next match will be on Saturday against the University of Idaho in their first home matchup of the season.
