YAKIMA, Wash. – Seattle University women's soccer played to a tie with Gonzaga, 1-1, in an exhibition on Thursday afternoon. Sophomore Ava Benedetti scored for the Redhawks.

The teams played three 30-minute periods, as the score remained 0-0 entering the final session. The Zags scored first, but SU had an answer. Freshman Hallie Bergford dribbled through the Gonzaga defense and found Bailey Hall, who set up Benedetti for the tying goal.

Defenders Michele Adam, Valentina Bernal, and Natalie Dixon led the SU backline in the contest. Sydney Carr made an impact offensively.

The Redhawks are scheduled to kick off the regular season on Sunday, Feb. 7, as Washington State visits Championship Field. The match is set for a 3 p.m. start.
