SEATTLE – Seattle University softball has announced the signing of three student-athletes for its Class of 2021. Kalyn Hill, Amanda Morris, and Katie Walling will join the Redhawks in the Fall of 2021.

Coach Geoff Hirai will begin his sixth season at Seattle U next month. The Redhawks remain the defending WAC champions after winning both the regular season and tournament titles in 2019.

Hill is a 5-6 catcher from Murrieta, California. She is a member of Athletics Mercado Smith 18u Gold. At Murrieta Mesa High, she will be a four-year starter. She earned her team's Defensive Player of the Year honor in 2019 and helped Murrieta Mesa win the 2018 Southwestern League crown.

"Kalyn commands well behind the plate and her power with the bat will impact us for the next four years," said Hirai.

Morris is a 5-8 outfielder from Coto De Caza, California. She plays with SoCal Athletics Marinakis after playing with Firecrackers Brashear Smith and Firecrackers Lutterloh King. At Tesoro High, she will be a four-year varsity letterwinner. Morris was named 2019 Sea View League First Team.

"Amanda has one of the nicest swings I have seen in a while," said Hirai. "She also has a great arm and we look for her to fight for a starting spot right away."

Walling is a 5-5 infielder out of San Diego, California. She has played with PowerSurge on the club circuit for the last three years. At Torrey Pines High, she has a career batting average of .390 and an on-base percentage of .458.

"Katie is a five-tool player and we look for her to impact us right away in the infield," said Hirai.
