SEATTLE – Due to concerns related to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Chicago State University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City have made decisions regarding upcoming travel and competition of their men's and women's basketball teams.
Chicago State has cancelled its final two regular-season men's and women's basketball games, including contests scheduled against Seattle University on Thursday, March 5. Kansas City has additionally announced that it will not travel its men's basketball team to Seattle for the scheduled Saturday, March 7 game against the Redhawks.
Seattle U's women were scheduled to play Thursday in Chicago, while the men were scheduled to play Thursday night in Seattle. None of the cancelled games will be rescheduled. The cancelled games will officially be recorded as "no-contest" per NCAA guidelines.
Seattle University's women's basketball team will travel to Kansas City to conclude Western Athletic Conference play on Saturday, March 7. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. Central time, 12 p.m. Pacific.
Both Seattle U men's and women's basketball teams are scheduled to begin WAC Tournament play next week at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The women's tournament begins Wednesday, March 11 while the men begin play on Thursday, March 12. Additional details regarding seeding and games times for the WAC Tournament will be forthcoming.
