The Redhawks faced a tough challenge in UNLV, who stayed unbeaten after sweeping Seattle U 7-0.

LAS VEGAS – Seattle U men's tennis finished off the weekend on Sunday afternoon, challenging an undefeated UNLV squad on their home turf in Las Vegas. Ultimately, the Rebels remained unbeaten, sweeping the Redhawks 7-0.
 
Senior Trenton Nield took opponent Jordan Sauer to a three-set tiebreaker in singles play, winning the first set 6-4 before losing the next two 0-6, 0-1 (6-10). Classmate Alex Chan faced UNLV's Tom Ciszewski, posting a 4-6, 1-6 result, while freshman Lars Schmassmann (5-7, 0-6) started off strong against the Rebels' Clayton Alenik in the number three spot. Sophomores Jim Bauer (2-6, 1-6) and Juan Pablo Jaramillo (0-6, 2-6) battled hard, but ultimately fell to Zach Garner and Jackson Atherton, respectively. In doubles play, Nield and Chan battled Sauer and partner Alex Kobelt to the limit, finishing 4-6, and Bauer partnered with Schmassmann to take Ciszewski and Dabic to a 1-6 result.
 
For their next challenge, the Redhawks will face Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash., on Feb. 22 at 10:00 a.m. PT.
