NEWS AND NOTES
• SU opened the 2020-21 season with an 82-70 loss to Portland on Nov. 25. Four Redhawks scored in double figures, led by McKenzi Williams. Williams matched her career high with 20 points, as the junior made 12-14 free throws in the contest.
Bree Calhoun made her SU debut and tallied 11 points, seven steals, and six assists in 20 minutes of play. Maddy Phillips scored a career-high 11 points in her first career start. Chinwe Ezeonu put up 12 points and seven rebounds for the Redhawks.
• Oregon was on track for a No. 1 seed in the 2020 NCAA Tournament before the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It lost three players who became top-10 picks in the 2020 WNBA Draft.
• Coach Kelly Graves has made the Ducks one of the top programs in the nation and despite losing much of their production, Oregon is expected to be a nationally-ranked squad in 2020-21.
• Seattle U was voted to finish fifth in the WAC Preseason Coaches' Poll and sixth in the WAC Media Preseason Poll. It finished eighth in the 2019-20 regular season standings.
• Junior Courtney Murphy was picked Preseason All-WAC by coaches and media, while redshirt junior McKenzi Williams earned Preseason All-WAC honors from the coaches. Murphy is the WAC's active leader with 114 made three-pointers in her first two seasons at SU. Williams is the lone active WAC player to start an NCAA Tournament game (at Oregon in 2018).
• Coach Suzy Barcomb is in her fifth season at Seattle U, making the longest-tenured head coach in the WAC. She is one of two active NCAA coaches to have taken a team to the NCAA Tournament in all three division levels. NC State's Wes Moore is the only other coach to accomplish the feat.
• The Redhawks are 6-2 under Coach Suzy Barcomb in the WAC Tournament. They advanced to the semifinals before having the tournament canceled in 2020, lost in the first round in 2019, won the tournament title in 2018, and advanced to the finals in 2017.
• SU features three international players on this year's roster, with each coming from Australia (Georgia Kehoe, Courtney Murphy, Maddy Phillips).
