SEATTLE — Seattle U men's swimming will be represented this weekend at the 2020 Toyota U.S. Open, as redshirt senior Jack Neton is set to compete at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton, Ore.
Due to COVID, USA Swimming integrated a new format, spreading the annual event across nine regional sites. Results from each event site will be combined into one result report published by USA Swimming. Per usual, the annual event will provide swimmers with an opportunity to achieve Olympic-qualifying standards established by USA Swimming.
Although the event will take place November 12-14, Neton will have to wait till about 2 pm on Saturday to compete in the 200 breaststroke. Unlike the collegiate season, this event will be a long-course meter (LCM) race, apposed to the NCAA-standard short-course yard (SCY).
The Long Beach, Calif., native had a solid junior campaign in 2019-20, which saw him tally personal-bests in the 50-yard breaststroke (26.49) and 200-yard IM (1:52.89), while competing in the CSCAA National Invitational Championships. Neton's last long-course race in Oregon was in August 2019, when he won gold at the USA Swimming Futures in Mount Hood, setting a personal-best in the 200 breast (2:19.61).
This year's event can be seen on NBC Sports and the Olympic Channel with live and taped-delay showings, while usaswimming.org will host a livestream from all nine sites.
