SEATTLE — After a long wait, Seattle U women's swimming will open the department's 2020-21 athletic schedule this weekend when it takes on Idaho at the IU Swim Center on November 13-15. Fans will not be permitted inside the venue, but will be able to watch all the action on Facebook Live.
The weekend's event will be split into four sessions, beginning Friday, Nov. 13 at 5:30 pm. Sessions two (11 am) and three (5:30 pm) will follow on Saturday, with the fourth and final session set for Sunday at 10:30 am. A full slate of the weekend is available below.
HISTORY
The Redhawks and Vandals have previously met 13 times in head-to-head fashion, dating back to their first showdown on 2005. The meeting also becomes the first athletic intercollegiate event for Seattle U in 246 days.
YOUTH MOVEMENT
This 2020-21 lineup returns 17 swimmers from a season ago, but will have a youthful look with 16 of 24 names classified as underclassmen, including nine sophomores and seven freshmen. Among the crop of talented young faces, are sophomores Danika Himes and Tessa Oliver, who will look to build on their All-WAC caliber seasons.
LAST MEETING
Seattle U hosted the Vandals in the 2019-20 regular season finale on Feb. 1, but fell, 150-112, despite a solid performance. The Redhawks claimed five individual events with Bryn Lasher (200 fly), Allison Plamondon (50 free), Alexa Hoeper (200 back & 500 free) and Tessa Oliver (200 IM) each registering first-place finishes.
