UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Seattle University men's golf junior Nathan Cogswell shot an even 144 (67-77) to clinch the 55th Puget Sound Amateur title on Sunday at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash.
The Kent, Wash., native started off strong with a score of 5-under 67 following Saturday's first round of play, making ten pars, five birdies, and one eagle. Cogswell finished with seven birdies and one eagle over the two rounds of play. His seven birdies were second best in the field of 55 competitors.
"It feels great to get another win, I am very thankful," said Cogswell. "I have been working hard on my game with my swing coach, Greg Manley, and its great to see some progress. I would like to thank him for all his guidance and helping me improve. I would also like to thank coach Chandonnet, all my teammates, and my family for their constant support. I am disappointed we did not have a fall season, but I am hoping we can compete again in the spring."
This is Cogswell's second tournament victory in the past months as he also won the Northwest Open Invitational back in August.
