SEATTLE — Seattle University Athletics' took its inaugural venture into the virtual world last week with the Redhawk Night In, an online fundraising event to launch the new academic year.

The evening included a virtual reception with Seattle U friends, family, coaches and staff. The program that followed was highlighted by a State of Redhawk Athletics from Director of Athletics Shaney Fink, including updates on student athletes' return to campus and training activities, initiatives and programming focused on engagement and social justice, and the latest news on return to competition.

Speeches from senior men's track & field student athlete Kailan Claiborne and women's basketball 2020 graduate Olivia Crawford shared the impact of their Seattle U academic and athletic experience.

The first-time event went on to raise nearly $100,000 in support of the Redhawks' more than 350 student athletes.

"We are so grateful for the generosity of the Redhawk Community," said Fink. "The continued investment contributes immensely to the transformative opportunities of the student athlete experience."

Event sponsors included Alaska Airlines, Coca Cola, Goldberg Jones, Pagliacci, OPA, Swedish Medical and WaFd Bank.
