SEATTLE – Seattle University student-athletes posted an outstanding close to the 2019-20 academic year, compiling a 3.585 grade point average during the unique Spring 2020 quarter. The showing caps a tremendous academic year for the Redhawks, who worked through the COVID-19 pandemic to put up some of the best academic marks in program history.
All 18 sport programs tallied a team GPA of 3.0 or better, with 13 teams above a 3.5 for the term. Women's golf led the way with a 3.83 GPA. Women's swimming (3.74), volleyball (3.70), men's tennis (3.69), women's tennis (3.68), softball (3.68), rowing (3.68), men's golf (3.66), women's cross country (3.65), and women's soccer (3.62) followed in a crowded field of impressive GPAs. Men's swimming (3.59), men's soccer (3.52), women's basketball (3.50), baseball (3.47), men's cross country (3.40), men's track and field (3.40), men's basketball (3.39), and women's track and field (3.35) completed a terrific term at SU.
For the term, 221 student-athletes earned a 3.5 or higher, claiming Dean's List honors. 111 Redhawks made the President's List for logging a 3.9 or better, including 73 with a 4.0 GPA for the term. Overall, 68.8 percent of SU student-athletes notched at least a 3.5 this spring.
