SEATTLE – Stephanie Merwin of Seattle University softball has won the school's 2019-20 Provost's Award. The award goes to the graduating senior with the highest cumulative grade point average among transfer students.
Merwin, a native of Richland, Wash., will earn her undergraduate degree next month. She is a mechanical engineering major who will graduate summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA.
"Stephanie exemplifies what it is to be a student-athlete here at Seattle U," said Coach Geoff Hirai. "We are proud to have her in our program and she deserves every accolade she receives."
Merwin started all 24 games at second base in SU's abbreviated season this spring. She hit one home run, two doubles, and a team-leading two triples.
After two years at Oregon State, Merwin transferred to Seattle U in 2018. She was a member of SU's run to the 2019 NCAA Tournament and will return for the 2021 season after being granted an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
