SEATTLE – Head Coach Jim Hayford continues to bolster the Seattle U men's basketball roster with size and experience for the 2020-21 season, announcing the addition of Jared Pearre, a 6-9 forward originally hailing from McKinney, Texas.
Pearre will join the Redhawk program with two years of eligibility after completing his undergraduate degree in Financial Analysis in just three years at CSUN in Northridge, Calif. He will enroll in Seattle U's Professional MBA program.
"Jared is an outstanding young man and a great student," said Hayford. "He has had success at Northridge as a starting player in the Big West. I believe his upperclassman years on the court will be very productive as he leads our team to even more success."
Pearre spent his first three collegiate years at CSUN. Following a redshirt year in 2017-18, he competed in 30 games, including 13 starts, for the Matadors in 2018-19 as a redshirt freshman. He averaged 2.9 points and 2.7 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game while shooting 65.5 percent from the field during the campaign. He moved into the starting lineup during Big West Conference play and upped his shooting accuracy to 73.5 percent. Pearre wrapped the season by earning Big West Conference All-Academic Team honors.
As a redshirt sophomore in 2019-20, Pearre played in 31 games, making 23 starts for the Matadors. He averaged 3.4 points and 3.5 rebounds in 17.8 minutes per game while shooting 57.8 percent from the field and finishing second on the team in blocked shots. He scored in double figures three times and nearly had a double-double at Auburn on Nov. 15, 2019, finishing with 10 points and nine boards. Pearre registered a career-high 19 points on 9-of-9 shooting to go with five rebounds versus Saint Katherine on Jan. 4, 2020.
At McKinney North High School in McKinney, Texas, Pearre earned district Newcomer of the Year and district Defensive Player of the Year awards as a sophomore and junior. He guided the Bulldogs to the semifinals of the University Interscholastic League State Basketball Championships as a sophomore. Pearre also received three all-district first team and three all-district all-academic first team nods during his prep career.
