SEATTLE – Seattle University women's basketball held its annual team banquet on Saturday, as members of the program joined with donors on Zoom for a unique event online.
Coach Suzy Barcomb, having wrapped up her fourth season at SU, honored the five seniors on the roster, as Joana Alves, Genessa Bedoya, Carla Bieg, Olivia Crawford, and Kamira Sanders took the spotlight for much of the event. The Redhawks won 13 games this season, including a WAC Tournament quarterfinal win over Utah Valley on March 11 before the cancellation of the rest of the tournament.
For team awards, Crawford won both the Iron Hawk and Together We Soar honors. Sanders claimed her third straight Best Defender award and redshirt Madison DuBois took home Most Improved. Courtney Murphy won the Scholarship, Skill and Determination accolade, while Leilani Peat was named Challenge, Commitment, and Courage winner.
On Saturday, special guest Breanna Stewart of the Seattle Storm addressed the team, while recent alumni also shared messages with the current team.
