SEATTLE – Seattle University women's basketball has signed two newcomers for the 2020-21 season, as Ramona Jagger and Bria Rice will join the Redhawks next season.
Coach Suzy Barcomb, entering her fifth season at SU, will bring on five newcomers for the 2020-21 campaign, as Jagger and Rice join previous signees Peyton Howard, Irena Korolenko, and Erin Tarasow.
Jagger will graduate from Decatur High this summer and be a freshman at SU in the fall. The 6-2 post averaged 14 points and eight rebounds per game as a senior, helping Decatur win 17 games. Jagger earned All-League First Team NPSL Olympic Division for her efforts.
"Ramona gives us added depth at the post and will add some versatility to the position," said Barcomb. "She is long and agile with a tremendous upside. We like her competitive fire and her eagerness to improve as an athlete."
Rice is a graduate transfer who will be immediately eligible for the Redhawks. The Seattle native played at Todd Beamer High before going to Arizona and then Long Beach State as an undergrad. She lettered in all four years at Todd Beamer, where she was ranked as the 30th-best guard in the country by ESPN.com. Rice appeared in 20 games as a freshman at Arizona and then transferred to LBSU, where she played in 16 games before suffering an injury.
"Bria will add experience and maturity to our guard position," said Barcomb. "She brings a solid work ethic, leadership and is a team player. We are excited she will be joining our team this year."
