SEATTLE – Continuing to bolster its 2020 recruiting class, Seattle University men's basketball has added a pair of junior college transfers in Emeka Udenyi and Darrion Trammell, as well as incoming freshman Matthew Levis, Head Coach Jim Hayford announced Wednesday.
"This is a group of winners who will make an immediate impact on our program and as leaders on our campus," said Hayford. "We are excited to welcome them into our community this fall."
Udenyi and Trammell have spent the past two seasons as teammates at City College of San Francisco, alongside a third Seattle U commit – Nate Robinson. The trio helped lead Rams to a 30-0 record and a scoring average over 100 points per game this past season.
Udenyi, a 6-6 forward, averaged 11.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game this past season on his way to All-State honors. The Oakland, Calif., native also earned First Team All-CCCAA Coast Conference as a freshman and sophomore.
Udenyi prepped at De La Salle High School where he was a two-time First Team All-East Bay Athletic League selection. He was named First Team All-NorCal as a senior, averaging a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double. His Spartans squad won the North Coast Section title both his junior and senior seasons.
Trammell, a 5-10 guard, averaged 10.3 points, 4.1 assists and 4.4 steals per game for CCSF this past season. He also shot 87 percent from the free-throw line, finished the season ranked second in the state in total steals with 188 and was named to the First Team All-CCCAA Coast Conference team.
The Marin City, Calif., native prepped at Saint Ignatius High School where he was a First Team All-West Catholic Athletic League selection as a junior and senior.
Levis is a 6-1 guard hailing from Jesuit High School in Portland. He averaged 11.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game this past season, was named Metro League Player of the Year, 6A First Team All-State and led the Crusaders to a 22-4 record and No. 1 state ranking. Levis holds a cumulative GPA of 3.99 and plans to pursue a career as an engineer.
Udenyi, Trammell and Levis join Robinson, Viktor Rajkovic (The Branson School), Vasja Pandža (The Hotchkiss School), Kobe Williamson (Melbourne, Australia) and Robert Hutchins (Arroyo Grande HS) as Seattle U's incoming class.
