HOUSTON, Texas — The WAC Championships came to a close on Saturday in Houston with Seattle U women's swimming finished eighth on the weekend with 168 points.
Danika Himes highlighted the day for the Seattle U side, earning her third all-conference award of the weekend, finishing sixth in the 200 breaststroke, logging a career-best 2:17.89.
Isabella Guadiamos also posted a career-best performance coming in at 2:23.22, placing her seventh in the Seattle U annals. Emma McGill flirted with joining the all-time performance list, though fell two-hundredths of a second shy of 10th. Caitlin Caruso (2:23.92), Michaela Day (2:25.92) and Darian Himes (2:28.24) rounded out the order.
The day began with the 1,650-yard freestyle, which was headlined by Day, who lopped off a minute from her previous career-best time, touching in at 17:30.43. As a result, Day posted the the fourth-best performance in Redhawk history. McGill also knocked off considerable time from her season-mark as she clocked in nearly 50 seconds better, at 17:58.34.
Jayna Van Stone shaved roughly four seconds from her season mark in the 200 backstroke, as she came in at 2:04.77. The mark was also a career-best for senior who held her spot at fourth on the all-time performance chart. Alexa Hoeper (2:07.19), Nikki Cooper (2:10.30) and Marissa Chan (2:10.35) followed.
In the 100 freestyle, Allison Plamondon led the way with a time of 52.37. Julia Gorman followed at 52.39, while Audrey Dixon and Margaux Thompson checked in at 53.34 and 55.48, respectively.
Bryn Lasher topped the Redhawks lineup in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.20. Tessa Oliver touched in at 2:08.09, while Maddie Rapp followed at 2:08.30. Sherlyn Devadason capped the order with a mark of 2:08.44.
The team of Gorman, Plamondon, Dixon, Van Stone then recorded a time of 3:28.02 in the 400 freestyle relay to close the weekend. As a result, the performance earned the quartet fourth on the Redhawks all-time list.
