Oliver, Himes Highlight Day 3

HOUSTON, Texas — Due to yesterday's incident with the water main in the City of Houston, day three of the WAC Championships was conducted in an abbreviated fashion with all races counting as scored timed finals. Despite the circumstances however, the Seattle U women's swim team put together a strong performance.

HOUSTON, Texas — Due to yesterday's incident with the water main in the City of Houston, day three of the WAC Championships was conducted in an abbreviated fashion with all races counting as scored timed finals. Despite the circumstances however, the Seattle U women's swim team put together a strong performance.

The day opened with the team of Allison Plamondon, Jayna Van Stone Stone, Marissa Chan, and Bryn Lasher posting a season-best 1:35.26 in the 200 freestyle relay—placing the quartet, third-overall in program's all-time performance list.

In the 400 IM, Tessa Oliver led the way for the Redhawks, placing eighth-overall as she logged a career-best time of 4:28.88. As a result of her mark, Oliver earned second-team all-conference honors and claimed fourth all-time in the Redhawks' annals. 

Isabella Guadiamos and Michaela Day also found their way onto the Seattle U Top 10 performance list, with Guadiamos sliding in at seventh with a time of 4:33.30 as Day followed at eighth as she touched in at 4:33.66. Caitlin Caruso also set a new career-best as she swam 4:36.71—trimming nearly eight seconds of her previous mark.

In the 100 butterfly, Lasher swam 56.51, while Sherlyn Devadason and Maddie Rapp followed at 57.54 and 57.77, respectively. 

Van Stone tallied a season-best in the 200 freestyle, coming in at 1:53.30. Julia Gorman followed at 1:55.50, while Audrey Dixon checked in at 1:59.73.

Scoring for the Redhawks in the 100 breaststroke, Danika Himes established on new career-best mark, touching in at 1:03.65—nearly a half-second better than her previous time as she also secured her second all-conference of the weekend. 

Darian Himes (1:08.62) and Margaux Thompson (1:10.50) also swam well enough to register season-bests.

Plamondon (59.07), Alexa Hoeper (59.49), Chan (1:00.26) and Nikki Cooper (1:00.56) rounded out the day in the 100 backstroke.

The WAC Championships will conclude tomorrow, beginning at 8:00 am Pacific, with the 1,650-yard freestyle. All swimming events will be broadcasted on the WAC Digital Network.
