MSWIM Conclude Day 3 of WAC Meet

HOUSTON, Texas — Due to yesterday's incident with the water main in the City of Houston, day three of the WAC Championships was conducted in an abbreviated fashion, with all races counting as scored timed finals. The Seattle U men's swim team however put together a solid outing under the circumstances.

HOUSTON, Texas — Due to yesterday's incident with the water main in the City of Houston, day three of the WAC Championships was conducted in an abbreviated fashion, with all races counting as scored timed finals. The Seattle U men's swim team however put together a solid outing under the circumstances.

The 200 freestyle relays posted a 1:22.75—falling hundredths of second shy of entering the Redhawks' Top 10 performance lists.

Will Corona led the way in the 400 IM with a time of 4:02.01, while Kyle Bailey notched a season-best 4:09.11. Max Chesno rounded out the order as he touched in at 4:13.39.

In the 100 butterfly, Greg Raper scored for Seattle U finishing 13th with a time of 48.56. Emmett Moore (49.93), Shawn Fujii (50.58), Tyler Goodspeed (51.09) and Ryan Ascencio (51.54) each followed, with Fujii, Goodspeed and Ascencio tallying season-best times.

Connor Barringer also registered a season-best as he logged a 1:40.42 in the 200 freestyle—trimming nearly two seconds of his previous best time, placing himself seventh all-time in Redhawks. Jake Goguen (1:40.87), Alex Roderick (1:42.30), Zach Zenteno (1:42.33), Justin Kalugin (1:43.40), Isaac Parker (1:44.14) and Juan Varela (1:45.53) followed. 

In the 100 breaststroke, Jack Neton touched in at 57.15, shaving nearly a half-second of his season-best mark, while Fujii followed with a time of 59.97.

In the final event of the day, Ryan Shaw scored for the Redhawks in the 100 backstroke as he clocked a season-best mark of 49.88—five-hundredths of a second of his career-best. Jaden Weiss followed at 50.94, placing him 10th-overall on the all-time list. 

The WAC Championships will conclude tomorrow, beginning at 8:00 am Pacific, with the 1,650-yard freestyle. All swimming events will be broadcasted on the WAC Digital Network.
