HOUSTON, Texas — The Seattle U men's swim team heads to home of the NASA Space Center this week its set to take part in the 2020 Western Athletic Conference Championships, held this year in Houston at the CRWC Natatorium from Feb. 26-29.
Despite a 3-4 record in head-to-head action, the men's squad visit Houston following a solid regular season and high hopes.
Headlining the flock is freshman Will Corona who is the highest-ranked Redhawk from the men's side on the pre-meet psych sheets. The Georgetown, Texas native makes his first WAC Championship appearance listed 10th in the 400 IM and 17th-overall in the 200 IM. Among the Seattle U annals, Corona is sixth all-time in the 200 IM with a time of 1:51.02, while his time of 3:58.71 is fourth-best.
Other Redhawks among the Top 20 on the psych sheer include sophomore Juan Varela, who enters the Championships ranked 17th in the 1,650-yard freestyle, junior Jack Neton is slotted 13th-overall in the 200 breaststroke and senior Greg Raper who's 16th in the 100 butterfly and 17th in the 50 freestyle.
Various prelim races and all finals from 2020 WAC Swimming & Diving Championships will be streamed online, either on the WAC Digital Network (WDN) or or via the WAC's Facebook Live page.
