FORT WORTH, Texas — Seattle U baseball's Austin Lively was among the nation's top hitters, as he was to the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award (BBCSA) Watchlist, announced Tuesday by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation.

The BBCSA is based on performance at the plate, academics and personal integrity. This year's watch list consisted of 36 players representing 16 conferences from around the country, including all five power conferences.

A native of Redmond, Wash., had a solid 2019 campaign as he was second among team leaders in slugging, .426; and third in batting average, .298, runs scored, 32, and on-base percentage, .381. Appearing predominately at third base, Lively started 36 of 38 games for the Redhawks in 2019 before an injury shortened his season.

Academically, Lively is a senior at Seattle University and is working towards a degree in Management. A Western Athletic Conference Academic honoree in 2019, Lively has a cumulative grade point average of 3.31.

The BBCSA began in 2017 as an honor going to the top Division I college hitter in Texas. In 2019, the award expanded to cover programs in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

The winner of the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall at the Fort Worth Club. Texas Tech's Hunter Hargrove won the inaugural award in 2017. Dallas Baptist's Devlin Granberg took home the honor in 2018 with Texas Tech's Josh Jung winning the award in 2019.
