DENVER – Hailey Vice-Neat of Seattle University women's basketball has been named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Week, for the period ending on Feb. 9. The redshirt sophomore tallied her first career double-double and made the game-winning three-pointer in SU's 82-80 overtime win over Utah Valley on Saturday.
Vice-Neat, a native of Santa Rosa, Calif., posted career highs in points (18), rebounds (12), blocks (2), and minutes (40) in the Redhawks' come-from-behind victory at the Redhawk Center. She made three free throws in the final nine seconds of regulation, including a pair with 2.2 seconds left, to force OT. In the extra session, Vice-Neat made a three to tie the game at 75 and then stepped into a triple with 5.4 seconds remaining, sinking the shot to put SU ahead, 82-80. Utah Valley was unable to get a shot off and the Redhawks claimed their third win in a row.
After missing the first 16 games of the season due to injury, Vice-Neat has returned for the last six contests. She is averaging 8.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game in six starts.
Seattle U has won three straight to move to 4-5 in WAC play. It hosts NM State and UTRGV this weekend at the Redhawk Center.
