TEMPE, Ariz. – Seattle University softball fell to Kansas, 8-0 in six innings, on Saturday at the Kajikawa Classic. Stephanie Merwin had two hits in the contest for the Redhawks.
 
The Jayhawks scored two runs in the second and then added five in the fifth to take control of the contest. They homered in the sixth to end the game with an 8-0 difference.
 
SU put at least one runner on base in five of its six trips to the plate, but could not find a scoring hit. Merwin doubled in the second and then tripled in the fourth to spark the offense.
 
The Redhawks wrap up their opening weekend with two games on Sunday. They will face Utah at 10:30 a.m. Pacific (11:30 a.m. Mountain) and then take on No. 22 Arizona State at 1 p.m. Pacific (2 p.m. Mountain).
