COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) national office announced Thursday, that the Seattle U men's and women's swimming were each recognized as a Scholar All-America Team for Fall 2019.
In order to qualify, the CSCAA requires teams post a collectively grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
"I am very pleased with how our teams did in the in the classroom this past quarter," said Redhawks head coach Craig Nisgor. "They have kept up our strong academic tradition and it is great to continue to see them achieve in both the classroom and pool."
The women's team was honored after amassing an impressive GPA of 3.64 during the Fall quarter.
As a result, the Redhawks notched the second-highest mark among Western Athletic Conference members and were one of 30 teams, among the 182 Division I programs listed, to post a GPA of 3.6 or better. This was also the women's 17th consecutive mention in the CSCAA's honors, dating back to the 2011-12 campaign.
Meanwhile, on the men's side, the Redhawks were among those listed after tallying a GPA of 3.14. This was the Redhawks' 15th-time honored by the national organization since the 2011-12 season and their fifth-consecutive semester. The men were also one of four programs to represent the WAC.
The women's team returns to the pool this Saturday for their regular-season finale as Seattle U host conference counterpart, Idaho, at the Redhawk Center at 1 pm. Both program's will then compete in the WAC Championships, held Feb. 26-29, in Houston, Texas.
