DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference announced on Tuesday that Seattle U junior Hannah Gianan has won their Women's Singles Athlete of the Week for Jan. 20-26.
On Jan. 24, Gianan posted a close three-set tiebreaker loss, 5-7, 6-3, 0-1 (4-10), against Boise State. The next day, she bounced back with a decisive 6-0, 6-4 victory over her opponent from Idaho State.
"I am happy to hear that Hannah is receiving this honor," said Head Coach Joey Barnes. "She is one of our strongest players who has competed at both our number one and two positions, and has a great upside that I am sure will continue to develop."
Gianan and the Redhawks will play next at 6:00 p.m. PT on Saturday, Feb. 1 against South Dakota at the Tennis Center at Sand Point.
