SEATTLE – Seattle University men's basketball Head Coach Jim Hayford announced Monday the addition of Arroyo Grande, Calif., native Robert Hutchens as a member of the Redhawks' incoming class for 2020-21.

Hutchens is a 6-4 shooting guard currently in his senior season at Arroyo Grande High School. He is averaging 19.5 points per game as he leads the Eagles to a 17-4 record in games through Jan. 20. Honors this season have included MVP of the Harding Invitational Tournament and the Annual Atascadero Greyhound Christmas Classic.

"Robert is a great addition to our program," Hayford said. "He is an elite shooter and a natural leader. Our entire campus will benefit by him choosing Seattle University."

As a junior, Hutchens averaged 17 ppg and was a first-team All-Central Coast Mountain League selection. The Eagles went 23-6 overall, advancing to the CIF Central Section Division I playoffs. A three-year varsity player, Hutchens' Eagles also made the CIF CS playoffs during his sophomore season in 2017-18.

Hutchens joins five additional commits – Leo Da Campo, Viktor Rajkovic, Nate RobinsonVasja Pandza and Kobe Williamson – to make up the Redhawks' 2020 recruiting class.
