COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Seattle U women's swimming won pair of individual events but dropped a hard-fought dual on Friday with the Air Force Academy, 137-74, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The afternoon affair was highlighted with a first-place finish by Jayna Van Stone in the 200-yard freestyle as she touched in at 1:59.02. The senior then finished second in the 200 backstroke as the Redhawks swept the event with Danika Himes taking the top-spot at 2:09.96, while Alexa Hoeper placed third with a time of 2:19.16.
Seattle U bookended the day with a second-place finishes in the 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays. The quartet of Allison Plamondon, Himes, Maddie Rapp, and Van Stone combined for a time of 4:01.17 in the medley, while Julia Gorman, Audrey Dixon, Margaux Thompson and Jennifer Wong logged a collective time of 3:49.70 in the freestyle event.
In the interim, Plamondon posted a pair of second-place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle, notching times of 24.99 and 2:19.48, respectively. In the 500 freestyle, Gorman and Michaela Day were second (5:45.25) and third (5:56.88).
Then in the 200 breaststroke, Himes claimed second as she clocked a time of 2:24.99, Isabella Guadiamos followed at 2:34.83, for third-overall. Also garner third-place points was Tessa Oliver with a time of 2:19.48 in the 200 butterfly.
Seattle U will return to the pool tomorrow as it faces the hosting Falcons and conference-foe, Northern Colorado. The slated of events is schedule to start at 10 am Pacific.
