DENVER – Seattle U’s own Kali McCollister has been honored by the Western Athletic Conference as their Female Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week for Feb. 12-18, the conference announced on Tuesday. This is the second such award won by a Seattle U player in the 2018-19 season.

McCollister, a junior from Portland, Ore., has spent the first part of the spring season recovering from injury. Her three victories in a three-day span make her undefeated in singles play thus far, and include wins over Puget Sound (6-0, 6-0), Lewis & Clark (6-1, 6-1) and Montana State (6-2, 6-4).

“I am very proud of Kali – she really deserves this selection,” said Head Women’s Tennis Coach Joey Barnes. “She did everything she could to come back from her injury and get herself back into the lineup. Kali has a very positive outlook about herself and her ability to compete. She is a fighter that has the kind of spirit that I really enjoy coaching. Well done to her.”

McCollister and the Redhawks will next compete on Saturday, Feb. 23, against Brigham Young University at a neutral court in Pullman, Wash.
