FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Seattle U women’s swimming had a good first day to the 71st annual Husky Invitational, but was highlighted with four Redhawks qualifying for the 2020 USA Swimming Futures Championship.
The quartet of Alexa Hoeper, Danika Himes, Bryn Lasher and Allison Plamondon collectively qualified for next summer’s USA Futures Championship as they logged a time of 3:52.95 in 400 Medley Relay.
Plamondon met the Futures’ qualifying marks for the 50-yard Freestyle initially during her preliminary race as she logged a 23:87. Then in the finals, Plamondon’s time of 27.29 in the 50-meter freestyle was a tenth of a second under the qualifying mark.
Himes also had a standout out day as her time of 2:07.06 during the prelims of the 200 IM was her best of the season and sixth-best performance in the program’s history. Nikki Cooper meanwhile posted a lifetime-best of 2:12.09.
Hoeper also notched a lifetime-best mark on the day as she clocked in at 5:08.95 during the 500 Freestyle.
The Redhawks resume action at the Husky Invitational on Saturday (Dec. 7) beginning at 9 am.
