SEATTLE – Seattle U men's basketball scored the first bucket of the game and trailed by just one 10-9 nearly five minutes into play against Florida A&M Saturday at the Redhawk Center. But little else would go the Redhawks' way the rest of the night as the Rattlers escaped with a 71-57 win.

A 12-0 FAMU run over a three-minute span opened up a 13-point spread that the Redhawks could never overcome. Seattle U would get no closer than 10 for the balance of the game.

Terrell Brown led all scorers with 18 points, including 13 in the second half, but managed just 8-23 from the field. Riley Grigsby had 15 points and six boards and Morgan Means chipped in 10.

Rod Melton, Jr., finished with 17 points to lead four Rattlers in double figures.

FAMU hit seven of its first eight shots in the game and never really slowed down, finishing the frame hitting a 55 percent clip from the field and 50 percent from three. The Rattlers (1-9) shot better than 49 percent for the game.

Seattle U, meanwhile, never got much going, finishing 35.5 percent from the field, 20 percent from three (4-20) and just 56 percent from the charity stripe.

The Redhawks (6-7) will look to right their ship on Monday when they host Long Beach State at 3 p.m. in the Redhawk Center. The game is First Responders Night, as local police and fire fighters will go head-to-head in a halftime scrimmage. A fire truck and police car are also set to be on display outside the facility. Santa Claus will also be in attendance and a lucky ugly holiday sweater wearer will go home with a prize.
